Gifts from the Wise Men

Merry Christmas gifts from God essential healing oils from the wise men who gave gifts to Jesus at his birth in the Bible: Frankincense, Myrrh, and Gold. These and  4 other sacred essential oils were given to us directly from God in the Bible.

Healing herbs and oils heal the body and they are a reflection of how the Word of God heals the sprit. Physical things that God created are symbolic of spiritual reality.

They are healing oils except for gold.

Essential oils are potent concentrates extracted from sap, plant leaves, bark, and flowers. While each type of essential oil differs in its chemical make-up and use, pure essential oils may be considered just as potent as conventional medicines.

       Frankincense

Frankincense oil is a sap or resin which has been used for thousands of years for therapeutic and healing properties as part of the practice of aromatherapy. They’re sourced from leaves, stems or roots of plants that are known for their health properties.

Frankincense, sometimes referred to as olibanum, is a common essential oil used in aromatherapy that has a variety of health benefits, relieving chronic stress and anxiety, reducing pain and inflammation, and immunity.

Frankincense oil is liquefied sap from the genus Boswellia from the Boswellia carteriiBoswellia frereana or Boswellia serrata trees that are commonly grown in Somalia and Pakistan. These trees are different from others in that they can grow with very little soil in dry and desolate conditions.

Boswellia serrata is a tree native to India that produces special compounds that have been found to have strong anti-inflammatory, and potentially anti-cancer, effects.

The oil has terpenes and boswellic acids, which are strongly anti-inflammatory and protective over healthy cells.

Myrrh

Myrrh is mentioned in the Bible 152 times!

Myrrh has been shown to be a potent antioxidant and as a potential for cancer treatment. It is effective in fighting certain types of parasitic infections.

Myrrh is a resin, or sap-like substance, that comes from a tree called Commiphora myrrha, common in Africa and the Middle East. Myrrh is botanically related to frankincense, and is one of the most widely used essential oils in the world.

The Chinese frequently used myrrh as a medicine, and it remains a part of traditional Chinese medicine to this day. The main myrrh oil use by the Egyptians was for embalming and the Jews used it to make the holy anointing oil that was used in worship services in the temple in Jerusalem.

       Hyssop

Hyssop has been used for centuries as an antiseptic agent; one of its common uses as an essential oil is as a medicinal plant and aromatic herb. Hyssop oil spiritual uses date back thousands of years. There’s even a hyssop oil Bible reference — in verse 7 of Psalm 51, it states, “Thou shalt purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean.”

For thousands of years, hyssop has been an herb used as a purifier and cleanser. The Romans even used hyssop because they believed it helped protect them against plagues.

Hyssop, or Hyssopus officinalis, is a plant of the genus Hyssopus, and it’s native to Southern Europe, the Middle East and the region surrounding the Caspian Sea. Its name comes from the Hebrew word adobe or ezob, which literally means “holy herb.”

Today, hyssop is used for digestive and intestinal problems, including liver and gallbladder conditions, intestinal pain and loss of appetite. And it is used for respiratory problems, eliminating coughs, helping to prevent the common cold and respiratory infections, soothing sore throats, and a natural remedy for asthma.

       It also increases circulation.

       Cinnamon

Cinnamon bark oil (Cinnamomum verum) is derived from the plant of the species name Laurus cinnamomum and belongs to the Lauraceae botanical family. Native to parts of South Asia, today cinnamon plants are grown across different nations throughout Asia and shipped around the world in the form of cinnamon essential oil or cinnamon spice.

Cinnamon was highly valued by ancient Egyptians and Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine practitioners in Asia for thousands of years to help heal everything from depression to weight gain. Whether in extract, liquor, tea or herb form, cinnamon has provided people relief for centuries.

According to research, cinnamon benefits is long. It is known to possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-diabetic, and anticancer properties. It can also help to fend off heart disease, high cholesterol and neurological health disorders, like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

In ancient Egypt they used it for its medicinally properties as well as the aromatic properties they used in perfumes at the time. In medieval Europe they used it in religious services, as well as also using it to treat diarrhea, menstrumental complications, infections, nausea and sore throat.

Therapeutic properties of cinnamon leaf oil are analgesic, antiseptic, antibiotic, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, astringent, insecticide. Cinnamon leaf oil can be an aid for rheumatism, arthritis and general pain.  It calms the exhausted feeling of depression, and stimulates the glandular system.

       Cannabis

Marijuana? There is nothing in the Bible to say it is ok to smoke marijuana or weed. Examination of ancient cannabis plants show a much higher percentage of CBD (cannabidiol), and a significantly lower percentage of the psychotropic element THC (tetrahydro cannabidiol). This history of cannabis on wiki is worth a read.

Exodus 30:22-25: The LORD said to Moses, “Take the finest spices: 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much (250 shekels) of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels of fragrant cane, 500 shekels of cassia—all according to the sanctuary shekel—and a hin of olive oil.  Prepare from these a holy anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer; it will be a holy anointing oil.”

James 5:14-15 “Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick…”

Mark 6:13, “And they were casting out many demons and were anointing with oil many sick people and healing them.”

CBD is now accepted to have healing properties as it works alongside the body’s own auto-immune system to promote physical healing and overall good health. This CBD is the dominant element in full spectrum CBD hemp oil sold for mainly this purpose.

       Olive oil

Olive oil contains heart-healthy fats providing a time-released flow of energy to the body, and the polyphenols clear the blood of toxins.

Stress and pressure of a modern life along with bad food result in bad LDL cholesterol, higher than HDL (good cholesterol), and high triglyceride levels in the blood are dangerous. Too much bad cholesterol in the blood forms deposits on arterial walls, clogging the veins and reducing circulation. Monounsaturated fat and antioxidants in olive oil help your body rebalance your cholesterol profile.

In the Bible olive oil is mentioned several times as the oil used for lighting lamps (Leviticus 24:2Exodus 27:20). Olive oil was also used for anointing oil (Exodus 30:23–25) and as part of the grain offerings (Leviticus 2:1–10). Kings were anointed with olive oil as a sign that they were chosen by God to rule (1 Samuel 16:1). As an important ingredient in the recipe for anointing oil, olive oil was used to sanctify priests (Exodus 29:7), the tabernacle, and all its furnishings (Exodus 40:9). Olive oil was also used in cooking. Olive trees grew in Israel (Deuteronomy 8:7–8), and the people in that region used the oil from pressed olives as people in other cultures might have used butter or animal fats.

       Grape seed oil

There are many key nutrients in grapeseed oil. It contains ingredients like Omega-6 fatty acids, is high in polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E which is antioxidant, Phenolic antioxidants, which contribute to health benefits.

A study of overweight women showed that the consumption of grapeseed oil improved inflammatory conditions as well as insulin resistance.

Grapeseed oil contains high levels of vitamin E, which has high antioxidant properties, and contribute to the reduction of damaged cells from free radicals in the body. This protection helps prevent heart disease and some cancers

Replacing food with high saturated fat levels with those containing polyunsaturated fats have also been shown to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease.

The mixture smells beautiful like perfume and has no bad taste.
